The idea of being an actor in England was not a very popular occupation. There were many acting companies. The companies were protected by lords who owned land. Shakespear's acting company was protected by Lord Chamberlain. Their acting company was called "Lord Chamberlain's Men." Shakespear benifited from this because he had someone who owned land that could protect him from getting arrested for writing play writes.

When Shakespeare would write, he would write a character or role that would suite the actor. Shakespeare knew that if he wrote a character similar to an actor in the acting company, that the real character would come alive and be portrayed on stage.

The team approach of having a acting company would ensure that all of the parts of the plays would be covered and the characters would be accuratly protrayed. Also, the actors would bond not only as colleagues, but they would become a close nit family and would learn to work really well with eachother and create wonderful plays.
