This year, as a sophomore I will be looking forward to Honors English II. As a freshmen, I was asked to write my goals for next year. I stated that I would like to improve in my vocabulary. Another one of my goals this year was to become a more self directed learner. I tend to depend on the guidance of my teachers and peers. I know that this is the single most important thing that I would like to work on. Becoming a self directed learner will help me not only in English, but in all of my other activities. I know that once I have the confidence and when I am sure of myself, I will be able to participate in class discussion and excel in my own personal capabilities. With a whole year ahead of me, I expect to grow in my writing and reading skills.
Throughout, the course of Middle School, I was a very poor writer. I had very poor skills in grammar and in spelling. Also, I did not know how to even write a persuasive essay until seventh grade. Having such poor skills in English, I knew that with the help of many teachers and my mother, I would begin to progress in this subject. Coming to the High School, I was not recommended for Honors English I. My eigth grade teacher had just come to the Middle School and she said that I should go into College Prep. I told her that English was my favorite subject and that I would love to have a challege in Honors English I. I begged her to recommend me for Honors and she said that she would. I was very happy to be in Honors English I and I knew that the expectations were going to be high. I promised myself that I would never give up or give in. I know that this year as a sophomore, I will have even higher expectations in English. However, I know that I will try my hardes to never give up or give in. The first day of freshmen year my mother gave me a card that had this quote on it: "Our feet are earth bound, but our hearts and our minds have wings. Listen to your heart and you will fly." Every day I am reminded of this quote. It helps me get through the stressful parts of my day . Yet, I know that if I do listen to my heart and believe in my self, I will excel in anything I put my mind to. With that qoute I look forward to another challenging year in English.
Now, I would like to let you know who I am as a person, not just as a student. I am currently enrolled in Colorguard and I also enjoy doing outdoor girls spring track. I see myself as an outgoing person. I have had the honor to recieve the Citizenship award in fifth grade, seventh grade and in eigth grade. Also, in eigth grade I recieved the Superintendants Award. This award is very special to me. The Superintendants Award is only given to two people in eigth grade, I recieved it because I was a roll model student and I was chosen to represent the middle school graduating class. The award was not based apon my academic standing, it was based apon myself and who I was inside. I try very hard to put all of my effort into my work. My favorite color is pink. I find it funny, that as people grow up their favorite colors change. However, pink has been my favorite color ever since I was little. Also, my favorite animal is the giraffe. I did a report on giraffes in fourth grade and they quickly became my favorite!!!
I hope that you have enjoyed getting to know me as a person and also as an English student. I now invite you to view my writing peices for Honors English II. Enjoy.
